Early Wildflowers in the Smokies

On a family trip to watch my volleyball star grand daughter play, I took the early morning opportunity to head to Cove Mountain Nature Trail, one of the best wildflower trails in the Smokies.
I figured it would just for a walk because it seemed impossibly early for any wildflowers, but I was happily surprised to find Hepatica blooming along the trail. Nothing else was showing but this was a welcome break from the snow still blanketing my home in Southern West Virginia and more predicted this week.
